For the last 2 seasons I have been self coached, but last year I felt I was losing direction. I had known Paul for a while & got to work closely with him on the BTF Level 3 Coaching course. I was impressed with his knowledge & his way of thinking, so when I decided to take on a coach Paul was the obvious choice.
My target for 2012 is to have a good, solid season in my first year as a Supervet. My ‘A’ race is Ironman France. This will be my third crack at what is a very tough IM & I really want to have a decent race. I firmly believe that F4L will help me achieve this.
For me the biggest benifit of being part of F4L is the constant communication I get & always being included as part of the group.
I really enjoy the variety of the training, as well as the intensity of it. I never quite know what is coming in my weekly plan & I really look forward to it arriving, just to see what the week has in store for me. It is very easy to get stuck in a rut, with doing the same session on the same day of every week. The way F4L delivers my keeps my enthusiasm up & keeps everything fresh.
I also really enjoy the monthly track sessions & the get togethers that Paul organises. It’s good to catch up with everyone & to train in a group, which because of work I don’t get to do very often.
Most importantly my training now fits around my work & family, not my work & family having to fit around training. Triathlon is very much a life style & can very easily become the catalyst for domestic unrest (I’m being diplomatic there). Paul has managed to develop a system that fits in around other commitments. Especially important to me as I work shifts & have in the past struggled to fit everything in.
