16/09/07 - Northumberland Tri Festival 2007 - Provisional results available here

14/09/07 - Northumberland Tri Fest 2007.  Well, its almost here - 18 months in the planning.  This weekend sees the Tri Fest go to a whole new level.  On Saturday 15th September, we have the One Life Kids Duathlon and the Relay Triathlon.  Throughout the afternoon we have all sorts of family and activity based fun running alongside the events.

On Sunday 16th September its the One Life Standard Distance Tri (which is also the NE Regional Champs).  This is one of the best fields assembled for years in the region.  If you are racing you have the chance to race: World Champions, European Champions, National Champions, National Age Group Champions, World Age Group Champions as well as some of the best the North East has to offer.

If you're not racing - come along and watch some of the best athletes in Britain compete against some of the best in the world.  Race information is a little further down the page.

11/09/07 - List of activities and times on the Saturday (15th) at Tri Fest here.

Congratulations to James Dickinson and Alan Copeland who have both qualified for the World Age Group Championships in Canada in 2008.  James was 2nd in his age group and Alan 3rd at the Northampton Standard Distance Tri which also doubled up as a qualifying event.  Not bad for their first year in Triathlon!

Also well done to Tim Wylie who was 3rd vet at Helvellyn Triathlon on Sunday.

07/09/07 - BARRY JAMESON 3rd at World Age Group Championships in Hamburg.

17/08/07 - One Life 10 Mile Time Trial.  The first One Life 10 took place yesterday.  The race was won on the Widdrington - Amble - Widdrington course by Mike Harris (Northumbria Police CC) AND Ian Taylor (Sunderland Clarion) in an astonishing 21min 35secsFull results are here.

14/08/07 - National Relay Championships (Holme Pierrepoint, Nottingham)

The veteran ladies finished 7th in a time of 4.02.10 which was quite remarkable considering Maureen was knocked off her bike on the 2nd corner and her bike( and self )was damaged. After getting patched up by the First Aiders she completed the run not wanting to let the team down. The team was Angela, Maureen, Sally and Claire.

One Life Vets are National Club Champions!

The men had their own race going on between the 2 club teams!! At the end of the bike section they was only a few places between them. John Barker and Dave Stevens started the run and John handed over to Alan Copeland first. Barry Jameson pulled away from Alan and by the end of their leg they were equal.  It continued like that for the next leg between Phil Smith and James Dickinson. That's when the race between Phil Gray and Tim Wylie started!!!! Phil pulled away from Tim.  However, determined Tim caught and overtook him and they both came home within seconds of each other.  Vets time 3.14.52 in 26th position and seniors in 27th  time 3.15.27 (I believe next year the seniors are out for revenge!). Hopefully we will have more teams entered next year.

Everyone had an excellent day but unfortunately Phil's Van was broken into and had some goods stolen which put a bit or a dampener on the day.

25/07/07 - One Life 25 mile time trial on Saturday 11th August has been cancelled due to lack of entries.

14/05/2007 - Alnwick Triathlon - Well we nearly cleaned up... On my count this morning we have 76 members of One Life of which 32 are under 16.

Finally Barry Jameson organised a Winter Aquathlon in Hexham on Sunday 3rd December.  The swim was in Hexham swimming pool, run around Tyne Green... not continuous.  The event was for club members only, plus family.  Fantastic event in the not so fantastic weather... all we missed was the snow.

12/09/06 - One Life Kids Swim Session - at Amble starting this Saturday (16th Sept).  Session is technique based (not hard training!) and will run from 4pm to 5pm at the Granary Leisure Complex.  £2 per session.  Address: Amble Links Caravan Park, Links Road, Amble, NE65 0SD

05/09/06 - World Age Group Triathlon Championships - Paul Jones and Dave Stevens recently competed for Great Britain in Lausanne.  Paul competed in the 30-34 Age Group whilst Dave was in the 45-49s.  Paul had a fantastic swim (6th in his age group!), a good bike and (for him!) a stunning run completing the brutal course (and the bike was brutal!) in 2:23.19, finishing 65th in his age group and 10th Brit - Paul's chuffed with that as he had qualified 17th Brit.  Dave says he didn't have such a great race but still produced a good performance to finish in 2:29.09, finishing 40th in his age group and 9th Brit.

05/09/06 - National Inter Regional Championships - Jack Ferguson had a good race to finish 10th in the Tri Star 3's (13/14 yr olds) in the event in Glasgow.  Jack was racing against kids a year older than he is and who have been involved in Triathlon for a lot longer.  Jack's performance helped the North East team finish a best ever 4th behind: South East, Scotland and Eastern regions.

29/08/06 - Northumberland Tri Festival 2007 - The Northumberland Tri Festival will move from its June date to the middle of September in 2007.

The dates have been set for the 15th & 16th September.

The weekend will consist of the One Life Kids Duathlon and two new events:  On the Saturday evening there will be the One Life Super-Sprint Team Time Trial.  Teams of three will set off at 2min intervals and then swim together, cycle as a team and run together, times will be taken on the last man across the line.  Distances will be 500m swim, 15km cycle and 3.5km run.

The other new event will be the One Life Olympic Distance Triathlon on the Sunday.  This will be a superfast flat course, with the swim being held in Ladyburn Lake and the run taking place around Druridge Bay Country Park.

The North East Aquathlon will move to a mid week date during the summer.

29/08/06 - Good Luck to:  Paul Jones and David Stevens who head off to the World Age Group Championships in Lausanne and also to Jack Ferguson who goes to the National Inter Regional Championships representing the North East region in Glasgow.  Both events take place next weekend.

29/08/06 - Hartlepool Marina Triathlon - Top performance from the club this weekend.  Paul Jones was 4th, Phil Smith was 6th, David Stevens 8th, John Barker 14th outsprinting Mick Golightley who was 15th and David Barker was 26th.  One Life were best club on the day too.

21/08/06 - Ironman UK - An awesome performance from Phil Gray at the weekend.  Completing the 2.4mile swim, 112mile cycle and 26.2mile run to finish 32nd overall in a time of 9hours 52mins 14secs.  Well done that man!!

09/08/06 - Hebburn Children's Triathlon - Congratulations to all the One Life Kids who took part at the event on Saturday 6th August.  Ben Gothorp was 2nd and Michael Willis was 5th in the Tristar 2's; Ben Davison was 5th in the Tristar 3's.  Well done guys.

09/08/06 - Hebburn Triathlon - A day after the relays we all competed at the Hebburn Triathlon back in the North East.  Phil Gray was 4th; Paul Jones was 8th, Mick Golightley 14th, John Barker 15th, David Barker 41st and Keith Pinder 47th.  We also were the best team on the day, putting us back in contention in the NE club league.

09/08/06 - National Relay Championships - One Life took a team of four down to Holme Pierrepoint (nr Nottingham) and competed in the National Relay championships.  We finished 25th Overall which is pretty impressive out of 350 teams.  The team consisted of: Paul Jones; Ian Simon, John Barker and Phil Gray.

01/08/06 - Gullane Traithlon - Congratulations to Phil Gray who finished 4th at the event in Scotland last weekend (this despite riding the second half of the bike with a softening front tyre!).  Also competing were John Barker who finished 26th, David Barker who finished 54th.  Phil Smith crashed heavily on the bike when his stem snapped and was taken to hospital... no major damage, just cuts and bruises.  Results are here.

01/08/06 - National Aquathlon Championships, Salford - Paul Jones took a Silver medal in the 30-34 age group at the event last weekend.

01/08/06 - National Inter Regional Championships - Jack Ferguson from One Life Kids has been selected to represent the North East at the National event in Glasgow on September 2nd in the Tri Star 3 age group.  Well done Jack.

01/08/06 - World Triathlon Championships Lausanne - One Life has two qualifiers for the Age Group championships on 2nd September in Switzerland.  Both Paul Jones (30-34) and Dave Stevens (45-49) have qualified.

01/08/06 - Quelle Challenge Roth - Unbelievable.  In this Ironman distance event (3.8km swim; 180km cycle and 42km run) One Life had three guys out there.  All three, Phil Smith, Phil Gray and John Barker, finished inside the top ten Brits home.  Phil Smith was 178 overall, 3rd Brit, in a time of 9hrs 55min; Phil Gray was 338, 4th Brit, in a time of 10hrs 25min and John Barker was 408, 8th Brit, in a time of 10hrs 35min.  Fantastic performance from all of those guys.

10/07/06 - Phil Davies Children's Triathlon - Congratulations to all the One Life Kids who took part in the event over the weekend.  Particularly to Jack Fergusson (1st in T3's); Ben Davison (3rd in T3's) and Michael Willis (1st in T2's).

03/07/06 - National Age Group Triathlon Championships (Wakefield) - One Life has a National Age Group Champion, Barry Jameson (50-54).  Also racing were Paul Jones (30-34) and Dave Stevens (45-49).  Full results are available here.

20/06/06 - One Life Kids Club.  There will be the usual session tonight at Lindisfarne Middle School in Alnwick.  3:45pm for a 4pm start, bikes and running kit required (don't worry if you haven't got your bike!).  REMINDER: the next session is in THREE WEEKS on Tuesday 11th July.

20/06/06 - Northumberland Triathlon Festival 2006.  The event this weekend was fantastic.  A massive thank you for all the help we had from the volunteers over the weekend. If you, as a competitor or spectator can think of any way we can improve the event next year then please drop us an e-mail at onelife@makeitcount.org.uk

The results from the weekend are now on the Festival link above.  The highlight from my point of view was the kids having so much fun in the Duathlon and some of the performances in the Triathlon.

The Castle Morpeth Triathlon was won by Donna James (Durham Tri) and Tony Weed (Hartlepooltriathletes.com).  Congratulations to all who took part.

14/06/06 - Shropshire Triathlon: Dave Stevens qualifies for the World Age Group Championships in Lausanne.  Congratulations to him.  Another excellent performance came from Mick Golightly and Keith Pinder who did stunningly well in the National Fire Brigade Championships.  Several other members of One Life are trying to qualify as well.  They'll have to wait until Dambuster on in two weeks time!

07/06/06 - Weardale Triathlon: 5th Overall, 3rd Vet and that's just Dave Stevens! Mick Golightly was 8th, Paul Jones was 17th after recovering from illness in the week before and Keith Pinder was 43rd.  Good news to see Mr. Stevens showing some form for the first time in two years, just before the World's Qualifiers begin next weekend.

22/05/06 - Quaker Triathlon (Darlington): Mick Golightly was 3rd with his first ever podium and Keith Pinder had his best result to date in 16th.  Well done to both those guys.

15/05/06 - Alnwick Triathlon: 4th overall, 1st Vet and win the top club for the league.  A good result for the club at the Alnwick Triathlon, with FIVE members in the top 11 overall.  Paul Jones was 4th - just 9 secs off 3rd, John Barker 8th, Phil Smith 9th, Phil Gray 10th and Dave Stevens 11th (1st Vet).  Full results are available on the Alnwick Tri Website.  This puts One Life 2nd in the North East Club League - 2 points behind Hartlepool.  Full report and league standings to appear on the North East Website.

08/05/06 - Fred Whitton Challenge.  Congratualtions to John Barker for completing the Fred Whitton Challenge, 114 miles with 4000m of climbing.  Not only did John complete the ride but managed it in a stunning time of 7hour 4mins and 3secs.  There is a full incident packed report by following this link.

24/04/06 - Peterlee Triathlon: 1st and 3rd overall and we are top of the league... fantastic result yesterday for One Life.  Good turn out from the club and the results speak for themselves.  Congratulations to Phil Gray who won (he may stop moaning and saying he's not going well for a week or so!), Paul Jones was 3rd, Phil Smith (7th), Dave Stevens (13th - 2nd Vet), John Barker (15th), Keith Pinder (44th... again!) and Dave Barker (47th).  In addition to collecting quite a few prizes One Life are top of the North East Club League... albeit very early in the season.  Full results are available on the North East Regional Website - see links page.

18/04/06 - Results from the Durham Duathlon are now on the Regional Website - see links page - well done to Barry Jameson (7th); Phil Smith (10th) and Keith Pinder (44th).

10/04/06 - One Life kids club gets the go-ahead.  One Life Kids Club will start on Tuesday 25th April (3:45 for a 4pm start until 5pm) at Lindisfarne Middle School, Alnwick.  For more details go to the One Life kids section.

03/01/06 - Happy New Year !!

One Life has been identified as an outlet for kids in schools who are interested in cycling & triathlon by         Northumberland County Council.  This means the kids club is coming fast and will be up and running in March.  Initially the plan is to have a two hour session once a fortnight (more if the interest is there).  One Life is looking for volunteers to help with the club and get involved.

In addition One Life has been selected by North Country Leisure as part of their club development scheme.  This means we can access funding for various workshops and courses to help us work towards Club Mark accreditation.

One Life Kids Duathlon will be part of the Northumberland Triathlon Festival 2006.  Details to follow.

Senior Run & Cycle sessions have stopped for a while.  There is a cycle session from Willowburn Sports Centre, Alnwick at 9am on a Sunday morning which is combined with Alnwick Tri Club.  In addition there are run sessions with Alnwick Harriers.  The Harriers meet on a Wednesday night at 6:45, again, at Willowburn.

Finally One Life is affiliated to British Cycling in addition to British Triathlon this year.
