Triathlon Cycling Time Trials Road Racing Join "One Life Racing" One Life on Tour
Background
to Triathlon: In
The
distances had to be worth it, and so they devised a grueling race consisting of
a 3.9km open water swim followed by a 180km cycle and finishing with a full
marathon. The
Triathlon was born. Over
the past twenty five years, the sport has grown in its popularity all over the
world and was officially accepted as an Olympic sport in 2000. The

government’s participation target for 2020 is that 70% of the population will
take part in a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity five times per week.
Participation is currently around 32%, of which 43% is made up of swimming,
cycling and running. Government targets will only be reached with a
mixture of initiatives aimed at both young people and adults. Triathlon is
a lifestyle sport, which promotes health and is attractive to young people and
adults.
The
governing body of this country, British Triathlon, now has a membership of 25000
people from all backgrounds, abilities and fitness levels.
